As the calendar turns to 2012, Chapeau Noir’s eyes turn to Hollas, a brand that continues to do a wonderful job combining progressive fashion with the heritage of golf.

For Chapeau Noir, what really distinguishes Hollas from the golf apparecrowd is its consistently excellent use of colours, pattern, and technology in its designs, while they blend in the right amount of trend without losing the plot and becoming a ‘caricature’ brand — something that is all too easy a pit for many to fall into.

Hollas prides itself on the details — specifically when it comes to fit and function, along with stretch and wicking properties that set this brand apart from the others. Currently worn on tour by Bryce Molder, Jason Bohn and Canadians Matt McQuillan and Jon Mills, Hollas has evolved to the point where the company has been able to dedicate more attention to fit and fabrics.

In its XFC fabric, Hollas provides the highest quality of moisture management technology while making every garment easy to care for — a bonus for gents who don’t really want to dedicate much brain power his the laundry situation. For its spring 2012 collection, Hollas features four colourways with with 14 of polos, five merinos, along with woven button dress shirts, giving retailers a great opportunity to cross merchandise, while allowing those of us who love the brand to take it beyond the golf course and integrate it into our everyday lives.

The four colour groups include:

  • Classic – black and white
  • Diversity – bright blue, light blue and ultramarine
  • Liberty – light pink and rose red
  • Motion – scuba blue, nightshade

The Hollas Essential Collection features four of its best sellers — the Solid golf shirt and Engineered Stripe, which features a new spin on the XFC fabric as well as new sleeve cuff detail. Next, the Plaid polo features the traditional design with a raglan sleeve, while the Brooklyn features the Ice Cool fabrication along with a printed argyle stitch pattern over the right shoulder and back.

Five Pockets / Denim

New for 2012, Hollas has taken a bold step to expand its range on the trouser side of its offerings, recently adding denim as a part of our category extensions in addition to Solid Bottoms in pants and shorts. New colours featuring Tan and Castle Wall, the Brixton, replacing our Glen Check pattern of the past and then a new addition is out five pocket pant, following a similar cut to it’s denim cousin. All bottoms feature a poly spandex blend with XFC moisture management technology.

New this year is the District Polo that features the Ice Cool fabric, like the Brooklyn, that features a print pattern across the chest and back. Pro tip: the District was the best booking product for Hollas during the buying show this past fall, so be sure to look for it in your pro shop come spring.

The Harrow polo features a tonal horizontal stripe at a great price point, while the Northern polo features a vertical drop needle detail tonal stripe with a contrast horizontal stripes. The Piccadilly combines colour blocking with contrast striping, and the Docklands features a unique XFC fabric with 14% spandex and is very lightweight — quite likely the the lightest polo you’ll ever wear.

The long sleeve Engineered Stripe carries on our classic look with a new fabric, while the six percent spandex in the fabric allows unrestrictive movement despite it being a long sleeve polo.

Merino Wool Sweaters & Hollas Jr.

Hollas Jr. for 2012.For 2012, Hollas has extended its categories — including the previously mentioned denim offering along ith long sleeve dress shirts and merino wool sweaters. Merino wool is unique in that it keeps you cool when it is warm and keeps you warm when it’s cold – an attribute very fitting for golf.

Buyers at the show were very intrigued by not only our use of merino wool, but also the styling and color palettes. Benefits of Hollas merino offerings include:

  • odor resistance allowing for multiple wearing
  • soft to touch like cashmere but much more durable
  • maintains warmth even when wet
  • exceptionally breathable and lightweight

The Connection merino features a quick dry poly liner, keeping wind out and keeping you warm. Look for additional Hollas offerings in merino in both v-neck and one quarter zips with either contrast striping along or contrast piping.

And for the first time, juniors are included in the Hollas mix for 2012. Look for polos ranging in size from 8 to 14 to give junior some options when you bring him to the course this summer.
