The Kempferhof is one of the toughest challenges in the Alsace region. Robert von Hagge designed the course and it opened for play in 1989. Close to Strasbourg, set in 220 acres of protected nature, the American architect took his inspiration from the beauty of the landscape and the river Rhine and designed this golf course, classified by the Rolex Guide as amongst the best 14 on the European Continent.
A nineteenth century hunting lodge doubles up as the clubhouse and a charming small hotel which is themed around the cinema, specifically movie legends. Le Kempferhof is the realisation of a dream of three Alsatian entrepreneurs who felt that the Strasbourg region needed a quality course.
This is not a course for the high handicapper with plenty of water and bold, almost haphazard bunkering. Embedded in an idyllic landscape with old trees, oaks, beeches and birches is this wonderful Kempferhof Golf Course. Here you find everything, rolling hills along the fairways, 13 waters obstacles, large greens and bunkers, all maintained on a very high level.
The 150 meters of water from tee to green hole 14, are just an example…. and there is like on every grand course, the grand finale, hole 18, with the castle, the pond and the double green in view. After such a round you get back to the clubhouse give in to your emotions.
