Downfield Golf Club is one of the most challenging yet fair courses around Scotland. Set in sprawling parkland close to Dundee, the sheer variety of holes will challenge every golfer. There is water on no less than seven holes and with five par 5’s Downfield ensures that every golfers ability will be pushed to the limit.
A course with a great history the course was designed by master course creator James Baird and it played host to the Scottish Amateur and Professional Championships and the 1999 Final Open Qualifying Round, with the winner Pierre Fluke going on to register a top ten finish in the main event at Carnoustie.
If the 11th hole remains the club’s signature, it was recently voted as one of the top 18 holes in Scotland, then delights can be found all over the remaining holes. The great views at the 4th, the long par 4 9th that tests a players driving and approach play and the thrilling final hole, with its dogleg back to the clubhouse.
After years of being real hidden gem, Downfield is finally being recognised as one of the finest inland course in Britain and Ireland. With a large clubhouse and excellent catering, Downfield is one golf course any golfer cannot afford to miss out on.
