As we are all aware, G/FORE has been taking the golf world by storm recently after quickly becoming one of the market leaders in colourful shoes and gloves.
And so, as the brand prepares to take its first steps into the world of golf apparel, we at TG were interested to learn from where this exciting brand came…
Established in 2011 and only four years in the making, G/FORE is the brainchild of fashion industry veteran Mossimo Gianulli, founder and curator of billion dollar fashion brand Mossimo and former owner of Paul Frank and Modern Amusement.
Married to Full House actress Lori Loughlin and residing in Beverley Hills, Gianulli is not only the epitome of style and sophistication but is also an avid golfer. Playing off a low single-figure handicap, it was his passion for golf which led to the creation of G/FORE.
Noticing a significant gap in the market, after becoming frustrated in his search for colourful and functional golf gloves, Gianulli created G/FORE which focused, initially, on creating brightly coloured gloves made from quality, hand-cut AA Cabretta leather.
It was a revelation: G/FORE finally gave golfers the chance to express themselves on the course where white had so often prevailed. And, despite the conservative traditions of the golf industry, G/FORE was unafraid to take a sexy approach to having fun on the golf course.
The gloves were quickly snapped up by professionals, celebrities and stylish amateurs alike and the range quickly expanded to encompass hats, socks, golf bags and shoes.
The most significant addition to the range proved to be golf shoes which aimed to shake up the pre-existing world of traditional styles. The G/FORE shoes boast a range of eye-catching colours and are super lightweight, designed to be worn both on and off the golf course.
Now, following this success, comes the much-anticipated line of apparel for AW15, combining luxury fabrics with technical qualities.
Offering a modern interpretation of classic styles in custom-developed, hybrid-blend fabrics, the range provides the ultimate in both performance and quality.
Cotton-pique knits and lightweight jumpers feature in greys, pinks and greens, and have a clean and contemporary aesthetic, while a bold camouflage print is the statement piece of the line.
Special features include all-natural yarns; moisture-wicking and fast-drying properties engineered for breathability; built-in UV sun protection; resistance to shrinkage and fading; and four-way stretch to allow essential freedom of movement.
