The Cheater
I’ve caught people taking inappropriate drops or not counting their strokes accurately. Sometimes this sort of thing happens because the person just doesn’t know the rules, but you need to know the rules.
Just talk to other golfers who know what they’re doing. If you keep cheating, you’ll find it’s very hard to get invited to play.
What’s even worse is if you are golfing with someone who surely knows the rules and ignores them anyway – this really pisses me off. I would rather take a couple of extra strokes that are my fault than risk alienating myself from my golf crew and disrespecting the game.
Remember: cheaters never prosper and, eventually, you don’t get asked to play.

The Distracter
I remember the first time I met the distracter – I was golfing with someone who intentionally blew a bubble and popped it while I was in the middle of my backswing. I sent the ball flying to the right side of the fairway and watched it roll into the rough. I was not impressed.
The distracter has many techniques that they will use to knock you off your game – they’ll pop bubbles, undo and redo the Velcro on their golf glove, or clear their throat at the most inopportune time.
These golfers make it harder to have fun on a round and can be very hard on your score – don’t bring them along.
You go to the course to have fun, relax, and to improve. Bringing any one of these golfers along will make each of those goals really hard to achieve.
