The final pairing of the Chevron World Challenge on Sunday, 4th of December, proved to be leaderboard redemption for one, and sartorial triumph for another.
Though Tiger Woods may have won the day with two closing birdies for his first ‘win’ in more than two years, it was Zach Johnson in the slim, athletic fits of Iliac Golf, who stood out for those paying attention to the day’s style quotient.
While Tiger’s on course look has always left something to be desired, he had to look no further than his fellow competitor on Sunday for a lesson in proper fit. If you’re someone who cares about such things — and if you’re reading this you probably are — then it’s time to get Iliac Golf into your on course apparel rotation.
As has been discussed in this space many times before — when you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good, you’re apt to be a confident sort — confident enough in yourself to hit a left spinning 60 degree wedge from the tightest of lies, on green stimped out for elite competition.
Just like Zach Johnson…

Though you may not have the nerve to try such a thing, you can certainly get the look, and subsequently glean a measure of Johnson’s confidence as Chapeau Noir recently did, when the Jocky from Iliac Golf arrived just days prior to Johnson sporting it the Chevron.

The Jocky is the performance shirt to end all performance shirt arguments. Where many tech laden shirts reveal their plasticity at first touch, the Jocky from Iliac Golf feels luxurious and refined, and of a fit and style that will have you reaching for it before all others.
Chapeau Noir’s Jocky from Iliac Golf is a fitted, 4oz, full performance garment in navy with red and antique white cover stitch detailing. A button down collar gives it that extra detail that sets you apart.
The story of California-based Iliac Golf, and of its founder Bert La Mar, is an intriguing study.
A professional skateboarder at age 11, a World Cup snowboard champion in his 20s, and developer of the successful snowboard brand Lamar, La Mar turned his focus to golf at age 30, and in 2005 launched Iliac Golf. But what of the origins of the name Iliac?
“When I started Iliac I had a golf bag design my brother invented that put most of the weight on your hips or “iliac” crest,” said Lamar of the origins of the his brand name.
Iliac Golf is a unique and rare brand, with an emphasis on golf tradition that will provides solid, long lasting appeal to golfers of any era who appreciate excellent design and quality workmanship. As La Mar says in his email footer, Iliac Golf is:
“Something unique, something special, something not available everywhere, something ready to meet the demands fueled by your passion, real core golf with roots to the past and arms in the future”
Bert La Mar – Golfer, Designer, Founder
Chapeau Noir would agree. Iliac Golf is something very unique indeed.
