The world famous PGA West Jack Nicklaus Course has hosted the Grand Slam of Golf Wendy’s Tree Tour Challenge and is home to the PGA ‘s Tour Qualifying School. Challenge, beauty and drama permeate every Jack Nicklaus-designed course, and this masterful design is no exception; around every corner you will find a new challenge, including the rare feature of two island greens. Without a doubt, a “must play” for not only a great test of golf, but for its magnificent desert setting.
The Jack Nicklaus is a tamer version of the PGA West TPC Stadium Course. Elevated ties, forced carries over water and huge, multi-tiered greens are signatures of the Jack Nicklaus trademark. At 7,204 yards long, The Course has a stroke rating of 75.3 and a slope rating of 143. The 18 holes golf course (par 72) of beautiful Bermuda grass integrated with the natural desert habitat defined by it’s wide fairways and unforgiving greens; the greens are well guarded by water and/or large traps.
Every hole on this demanding course requires its own unique strategy; especially the 561 yard, par 5 15th, which culminates with a shallow and well-bunkered island green. It is only fitting that a round on the Tournament Course should end with a dramatic water-crossing shot to the signature 9th and 18th double green.
Nicknamed Nick Tourney, this course is both forgiving off the tee and quite demanding around the greens, making for a great compromise for golfers of all skill levels. With nostalgic rail-road ties along stretches of sandy beach and gorgeous mountain views, the course is a popular host course for the Humana Challenge (formerly known as the Bob Hope Classic), its elevated tees, sunken fairways, blind shots and severely contoured and shaped greens challenge the best of players.
Once ranked among the “Top 100 Courses in the World,” the Nicklaus Private will take you from peaceful tranquillity to stern test from the very beginning to the very end.
