Spring is that time of year when the clubs are dusted off, the tee times are booked and the changes in fashion on the course move away from thick waterproofs to lightweight knits and shirts.
Layering is key this season and when we take a look at the frequent changes in weather that occur, we need to ensure we are prepared.
Most will opt for a trouser/short and shirt combination as soon as the sun makes an appearance but as the day progresses, the temperature tends to dip so a lightweight item of knitwear may well be your best friend by the 12th hole.
Model below wears a plain button down polo with a lightweight crew neck jumper. This look compliments both shorts and trousers so choose wisely based on the temperature and weather outside. You can see that this outfit is fairly casual and can easily be put together with a variety of different colours.

Drawing inspiration from high street trends this year, we see the chino once again in all its glory and it’s counter part, the chino short making waves on the runways. Both of which can easily be worn on the golf course.
The polo shirt is a classic which is expected at most golf courses so whether you choose a solid colour, patterned or button down polo, all will compliment the chinos and shorts.
Your choice of knitwear totally depends on your mood and what you feel most comfortable in. The cardigan is a versatile statement piece that is easily worn over the top of a polo on course and a shirt off it. Wear it buttoned up or undone depending on the occasion.

The classic v-neck is often a go-to jumper as it reveals just enough of what’s underneath to provide that additional colour to your outfit. Again, as with the cardigan, you can wear this just as easily off course as you can on it.
Another trend that is purely for off course is pairing a relaxed blazer and a fitted shirt with some tailored shorts. This is a great, casual look that would work well in an office environment or whilst out for the day.
Below, the model wears a tailored gingham check shirt by Aquascutum. This shirt is a great addition to the working mans wardrobe as this can be worn at the office, to meetings and out for dinner. Now, this outfit might not be suitable for all but exchanging the shorts for tailored trousers or chinos will look just as good.

The key with layering is not to over complicate things. Opt for comfort and style and try not to put too much thought into it.
