The Adare Golf Club is an 18 hole championship golf course which opened in 1995 and is set on the 840 acre estate of Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort (only 35 miles from Shannon Airport) in Co. Limerick, Ireland. This was the last major golf course designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones, Senior and has gained international acclaim as one of his finest creations.
The exquisite parkland atmosphere of the demesne has been preserved with the course set amid magnificent mature trees. This Par 72 course measures 7138 yards from the championship tees, and has three lakes, including a 14 acre lake that anchors the front nine. The River Maigue meanders through the 18 holes creating a sense of beauty and challenge, particularly on the 11th par 3 and the 18th par 5 finishing hole. Mr. Jones judged the 18th hole to be “possibly the best par 5 in the world,” who are we to argue when he designed 45 of the top 100 golf courses worldwide?
Since the official opening, the Adare Golf Club has staged the Smurfit Irish Professional Championship, the Women’s World Cup, the AIB Irish Seniors Open. In 2005 the course hosted the JP McManus International Pro-am, in which Tiger Woods competed; and in 2010 this charity tournament will be once again held at this fantastic course.
