Dave Thomas was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, England on 16 August 1934. He became one of Britain’s foremost golfers of the 1950’s and 1960’s winning over a dozen tournaments in Britain and Europe and on two occasions finished second in The Open Championship.

After retiring from tournament golf due to back a eye problems, Thomas set up a golf course design business with the object of utilizing his considerable international golf experience to design golf courses. He formed his company and over the last forty years Dave Thomas has designed more than 100 golf courses worldwide including the UK, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Italy, France as well as other parts of continental Europe, the Far East plus North and South America and Africa. Different climates and topographies undertaken in various parts of the world expanded his knowledge, imagination and understanding of golf course design which has provided the basis of his company’s experience.

His dozens of original designs includes the Brabazon – UK, Derby and PGA National courses at Ryder Cup venue The Belfry – UK, The Roxburghe Golf Course – UK, San Roque Golf Courses – Spain, St. Leon Rot – Germany, Almenara Golf Club – Spain, and Seve Ballesteros Golf Club – Japan and and his redesigns include the Open Championship venue Turnberry.
