The Oceanico Faldo Course in Alcantarilha, Algarve, Portugal is one of a pair of stunning designs that serve as the epicentre of Oceanico Group’s new luxury Amendoeira Golf Resort. A Nick Faldo Golf Design project the course is a par-72 with 7,215-yards is a championship standard golf course and is designed with strategic play in mind.
With gently undulating hills covered in cacti, olive, carob, fig and orange trees, well irrigated bent grass greens and tees and Bermuda fairways fringed by fescue, the carpet-like playing surfaces deliver ideal playing conditions in this sunny, temperate region where golf is played all year-round.
The Faldo Amendoeira Golf Course demands careful positioning to score well. Rocky outcrops, meandering watercourses and views to the distant mountains and orange groves define its essential character. According to Sir Nick Faldo, “there’s a definite feel of Arizona about our course and this will be reflected in the many varied desert-style features that we have incorporated. In terms of strategy, this will be a course that demands – and rewards – a very thoughtful approach; this, coupled with the vastness of the landscape here, makes for a dramatic and entirely engaging round of golf.”
