Costa do Sauípe golf course has changed the coast along the north of Salvador, the capital city of Bahia, into one of the highest quality destinations for tourists and golf lovers. The fact that it is situated near Salvador – the resort is only 76km far from Luis Eduardo Magalhães International Airport – makes it very accessible for visitors from all over the world.
Designed by American Brian Costello, Costa do Sauipe Golf Links the seaside par 72 layout stretches to nearly 7,000 yards from the pro tees but provides an enjoyable and highly memorable golf experience for the guests playing from the multiple sets of tees.
The golf course was carefully designed to take advantage of the dramatic Bahian coastal environment. We took deliberate measures to disturb as little as possible to blend into the setting and allow the course to meander through varied environments including pristine white sand dunes, coco palm and native tree landscapes as well as encountering several lagoons.
The clubhouse is about three kilometres from the hotel complex and the beach. Because it is situated on an elevated area, the clubhouse offers a stunning view over most of the golf course, the coconut trees and the sea, which can also be seen from some spots on the course.
It is impossible to forget how close it is to the ocean even when it is out of sight, for the strong winds are usually an extra challenge for the players who venture on the Costa do Sauípe’s fairways.
