Custom Fitting with Taylor Made Performance Labs

Custom fitting in the broadest sense is building a club designed to match your individual swing characteristics so that you hit the ball longer and straighter with better control. TaylorMade Performance Labs provides golfers with “Golf’s Ultimate Fitting Experience” utilizing the same revolutionary advancements in motion capture technology seen in such films as Lord of the Rings, Polar Express, King Kong, and Batman.

Previously available only to PGA Tour professionals the Taylor Made Performance Labs are available now worldwide in top golf academy’s and courses. In a two hour custom fitting experience conducted in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and includes driver, fairway woods, hybrids, irons, wedges, and putter. It is beneficial to men, women, and junior golfers of all ages and skill levels.

Using motion capture technology, 32 reflective markers are placed on strategic points of the golfer’s body as well as on the shaft and head of the fitting club to capture a number of swings with the driver, iron, wedge and putter. Nine special high-speed cameras detect the reflectors and display a three-dimensional computer-animated image of the customer viewable from every angle, allowing a teaching pro to make accurate critiques and recommendations. The two and one-half hour custom fitting experience includes recommendations for a driver, fairway woods, hybrids, irons, wedges, putter and even the correct golf ball.

Following the swing analysis and club recommendations, demo clubs are built on-site with the customer’s correct swing specifications and the player can then validate the system’s recommendations on the driving range. New custom TaylorMade clubs built to recommended specifications are shipped directly to the player in as little as 48 hours.
