Penha Longa Golf Club is situated at 30mn from Lisbon airport and 10 min from Estoril and Cascais, Penha Longa Golf Resort lies in the grounds of a former monastery forms part of the Protected Landscape Area of Sintra and Cascais. This 27 holes course it is considered one of Europe’s finest golf courses.

The Atlantic Course is an 18-hole, par 72, championship course of 6,290 meters, offering a challenging course with breathtaking views over the ocean with Estoril and Cascais to the South and the Sintra hills to the North. Some of the terrain is open and exposed to prevailing winds; other stretches are more sheltered and tree-lined. Ranked in the top 30 Courses in Continental Europe, The Atlantic Course designed by the famed Robert Trent Jones Jr., is escapist golf at its best. The U.S Golf Magazine ranked the hole # 6, which is the signature hole, in the world best 500 holes.

The Monastery Course is a nine-hole, par 35 course of 2,588 meters. This course spreads around the historical heart of the resort and is the perfect complement to The Atlantic Course, is a perfect partner – equally pretty but a fraction less demanding.

Penha Longa’s Atlantic golf course has played host to numerous competitions including the Portuguese Open. The prestigious IAGTO meeting was held at Penha Longa in December 2004 and this year the Atlantic course will host the PGA European Golf Tour Portugal Open 2010 from the 10th to the 13th of June.
