The Royal Malta Golf Club is the ideal setting for relaxing, working on your handicap, or spending time with friends. Positioned in beautifully maintained grounds and being centrally located in the Mediterranean it enjoys a wonderful climate providing excellent golfing conditions.
The RMGC was founded in 1888 when golf was played around the moats and bastions formed by the fortification walls of the Capital City Valletta. One of the founding members was the then Duke of Edinburgh who was serving in Malta at the time and from whom the club received royal patronage. It moved to its present location in 1904, and is now situated in the grounds of the Marsa Sports Club and boasts of being one of only 63 Royal Golf Clubs.
The course offers 18 holes of golf in stunning, historical, landscaped grounds, which are maintained daily. Today at par 68, the course is a good challenge for the more experienced, without being unkind to the novice.
The apparent simplicity of the course is deceptive as it is narrow demanding accuracy off the tee and controlled approach shots as the greens are small and well bunkered. Depending on the season, there is not much water on the course but a few strategically placed water hazards lie in wait.
