Yas Links Golf Course is situated on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, UAE, as part of a world-class leisure development on Yas Island, created by Aldar Properties, the complex is home to the Yas Marina Formula 1 Circuit, venue of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and the spectacular Ferrari World, the world’s largest indoor theme park. An unparalleled sports and entertainment venue just 15 minutes from Abu Dhabi’s city center that was specifically developed as a unique destination to attract international tourism.
The first Links golf course in the Middle East region and the first design in the region by Kyle Phillips, one of the world’s leading golf course designers, most notably known for The Kingsbarn Course at St. Andrews, Scotland and The Grove in London. He was also responsible for shaping the three-kilometre long coastline. During the construction stage he employed some of the 1.8 million m3 (cubic metres) of fill dredged from the sea to construct the golf course, creating dramatic links holes with no less than nine seashore greens with an engaging circuit of bunkers, swales, rugged dunes and ridges that promises quickly to rise to prominence as the finest course in the region.
This 18 hole golf course (Par 72) measuring 7,394 yards from the back tees and four other sets of tees offer golfers a variety of challenges. Yas Links is not short on the memorability factor with eight dramatic holes hugging the coastline and 109 bunkers to negotiate along with shifting winds. Five of the last six holes play along the sea, while the 15th through 18th already are deemed an exacting four-hole journey test home. A strategic game plan is the key to negotiate this course where Kyle Phillips used Paspalum for all the playable turf areas, in order to allow for firm fast surfaces all year round.
To complement the course, this Abu Dhabi golf club features a floodlit driving range, a nine-hole par three academy course, and an exceptional 4,000-square-metre clubhouse. Yas Links is a course that will test professionals, challenge amateurs and excite beginners by honouring the traditions of the game, demanding but offering the ultimate golf experience. A course that blends the latest in techniques and technology with the timeless traditions of the game. A course that is ready to be played, enjoyed and discovered by all.
