Aspetuck Valley Country Club was the dream of a few Weston residents in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The dream came true when in 1965 the small group of original founders reached agreement to buy sufficient land to build a golf course. Members were recruited and construction began. The club was finally incorporated in 1967 and nine holes opened for play in 1968 along with the swimming and tennis facilities. The second nine holes opened the following spring.
AVCC has been a “family” oriented club from its outset and has always offered outstanding programs for children from toddlers to late teen years. It is the only golf club in the area that does not require tee times, a goal of the founders that survives today. Aspetuck continues to be a ‘good citizen’ in Weston serving as the home course for the Weston High School golf team, host to civic outings for the Volunteer Fire and Medical Services and the local police. It is a ‘green’ club with membership in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program.
