Kyle Phillips is one of the most renowned architects in golf today. He is known for his ability to produce courses which seemed to have been there for centuries in spite of the fact they have been recently constructed. During his 16 years with Robert Trent Jones II, Kyle Phillips has studied and been influenced in his designs by the landforms and strategic qualities of the great links and heathland courses. These courses continue today to define the standard for the best in golf course architecture.
In 1997 he founded the Kyle Phillips Golf Course Design based in Granite Bay, California, USA. The company provides a full range of services, including world-class golf course design, golf course construction and construction bid documents, studies and renovation and historical restoration.
A member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, Kyle’s better known international courses include: Kingsbarns Golf Links, St. Andrews, Scotland; The Grove, London, England; Dundonald-Loch Lomond Golf Club, Scotland; Verdura Golf & Spa Resort, Sicily; Golf Eichenheim, Kitzbuhel-Aurach, Austria. Kyle’s design work has taken him to more than 30 countries on behalf of some 70 clients.
2010 has marked the opening of several new Kyle Phillips designs. These include: The Lakes Course at the PGA of Sweden National Golf Resort (Phillips’ Links Course opened in 2009); 45-holes at the Verdura Golf & Spa Resort in Sicily; the Al Maaden Golf Resort in Marrakech, Morocco; and Yas Links in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In Holland, Harry Colt’s Hilversum has recently completed Phase 1 of a Kyle Phillips Master Plan and the club has been awarded the Dutch Open Championship for 2010.
Current remodeling clients include Europe’s #1 and #2 ranked courses, Valderamma (host of the Volvo Masters) in Spain and Morfortaine, near Paris, which is regarded as France’s premiere golf club.
