Jeff Barr, the author, played his first game of golf when he was 13 years old in his hometown of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, USA. He went on to work as a sports writer for the Detroit News before being offered a job with Golfweek in Florida. Since then, he’s written three golf guides and said he’s been writing about golf for about 20 years.
